Celebrating a Quarter Century of Special Projects

Well would you look at that…

We blinked and we’re halfway to a midlife crisis. It’s been 25 years now since Capsule began its inaugural rotation around the sun.

And not just any 25 years. Throughout this quarter century, we’ve thrived despite three recessions (possibly four). We’ve grown, but done so in a steady manner. We’ve had clients on four continents, yet remain humble and grateful for every new opportunity.

25 years for a team of 15 is equal to 780,000 hours of time on client projects. And, that doesn’t include the overtime. When we started the flip phone was considered cutting edge technology, floppy discs still existed, and the only “functioning AI” available was Adobe Illustrator. As the world around us has continued to evolve, we’ve continued to evolve our agency by inviting young and curious minds to work shoulder to shoulder with our more seasoned gray locks.

On our quarter century journey we found advice and direction came from many people and places, but the ability to see us through a true and clear lens came from being a client. So, our clients, in their formal research feedback, project summaries and just casual picnic table conversations had the most impact on the directions we took as an agency.

This is best exemplified in how Patagonia referred to us on our second project, as their Special Projects team, a team to collaboratively drop into their organization, explore their challenge with curiosity, and thoughtfully design the way forward in a simplified way.

Like a zebra in a herd of horses, we have started to notice our stripes, and let it seep into our culture, processes and methods of working.

It is on our 25th year we have finally become ourselves and double knot our laces in these new shoes.

Here’s to our clients, our partners, our friends and our team for shaping us in these last 25 years. And, here’s to a fresh start for the next 25.

Welcome to Capsule, a Special Projects Agency.
