Introducing Brandon Lord

Our newest designer and Capsule Crew member, Brandon Lord opens up on life, love and the pursuit of brands. Well... At least two of the three.

What brings you to Capsule, Brandon?
Right out of college I worked within a small startup, then to agency life, and then contracting within big corporations, but I missed that drive and hustle when it comes to the agency life. Capsule has already allowed me to push myself when it comes to branding and packaging and I’m glad to have found somewhere where I can plant some roots and help the company grow.

Can you tell us about how you became interested in design?
I’ve always been interested in the arts but my original major in college was Accounting and on my first day I realized these were not my people. I quickly changed majors and pursued my Bachelors in Graphic Design at the Art Institutes International Minnesota and graduated in 2014. Best decision of my life.

What experiences do you bring to Capsule?
I’ve collaborated with many national brands such as Target, Best Buy, CitiBank, & Hanes, and in my spare time you can find me at the local Starbucks designing new work for my Dribbble and Instagram.

What brand is your dream client?
Surly Brewing would be one sure. I really love beer, beer packaging, and everything surrounding creating the look and feel for something that everybody gets to enjoy.

Well... Now that we've gotten to get to know you a bit more professionally, it's time for the personal question lightening round!

What’s the most awkward movie you’ve ever seen with your parents?
Talladega Nights in Daytona, Florida when I was 12 years old. When Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly started making out, Mom and Dad weren’t having it.

On a scale of Jingle All the Way to Fargo, how Minnesotan is your accent?
I would say a 7 as I say “Ope, scuze me. Lemma just sneak by ya” a little too frequently.

Ramen or Sushi?
Ramen because I like tasting my food.

What song will you never EVER skip?
“Stolen” by Dashboard Confessional.

What’s your social security number?
Gurllllll.

Any hidden talents you’re ready to expose?
I’m really talented at keeping secrets.

Best SNL cast member of all time. Go.
Kristen Wiig. Tina Fey. Amy Poehler. Not sorry.

Do you have a life motto?
My last name in Latin is “Fortis in Arduis” which promptly means “Strength in Difficulty” and that’s always been my motto when life gets tough because it’s true!
