Get to know our two newest members of our team; Sarah Day (Left) as an Experience Strategist, and Leah Guaquie (Right) as a Senior Graphic Designer.
1. Why were you interested in Capsule?
Sarah: One of my favorite parts of my past jobs has been when a brand came to us with a desire to shake things up, particularly in regards to their brand strategy or design. I love partnering with a business and working with their team to think about where they have been and where they want to go. When I learned that this is what Capsule specializes in, I knew it would be a great fit. Also, the people here are pretty fantastic too.
Leah: I was intrigued by Capsule’s dedication in building strong brand stories and meaningful experiences. I have a passion for solving problems through design and felt that aligned perfectly with Capsule’s approach to research and strategy.
2. What drew you to work in the marketing and design world?
Sarah: I’ve always been a person that’s loved to learn. When I discovered that when working in advertising you’re required to learn as much about the company you’re working with as well as current trends in culture, I was hooked. Some people are excited to work on one business for years – I’m ecstatic to work for a lot of brands all at once.
Leah: I fell in love with art from an early age and later added an affection for communication. In college I found graphic design as a way to meld the two and have been hooked ever since. Connecting people through meaningful brand touchpoints that delight and inspire is what makes marketing so special
3. What experience do you bring to the Capsule team?
Sarah: I’ve spent the last few years working on the advertising side of the business, focusing my time on a large B2B manufacturing client, as well as delving into the gaming, hospitality and outdoor sporting industries. Outside of work, I’ve served on the board of Ad 2 Minnesota (which is a part of Ad Fed) planning events focused around mentorship and networking and most recently moving up to the role of President.
Leah: As a designer and Art Director in the agency world for 4 years specializing in the B2B medical and technology realms, I have experience in visual identity and branding as well as web design and digital marketing. In addition, I have worked within the industries of higher education, construction, food and entertainment.
4. What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Sarah: In my free time, I’m catching up on the news (ask me about my morning routine!), taking long walks around South Minneapolis or cheering on the Nashville Predators.
Leah: If Netflix isn’t on, crossword puzzles are my go to, but I also enjoy a friendly (or not so friendly) Halo match on occasion.
5. Go-to karaoke song?
Sarah: Rocky Top by The Osborne Brothers, even if I did get boo-ed once by a group of Alabama fans at a karaoke bar in Nashville that one time.
Leah: Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen
6. Pancakes or Waffles?
Sarah: Pancakes (specifically from Al’s Breakfast)
Leah: Neither. Give me hash browns and a side of bacon any day.
7. Life motto?
Sarah: Always communication openly, honestly and directly. Oh, and be kind to people too.
Leah: Nothing worth having comes easy.
8. Any hidden talents?
Sarah: I can fall asleep just about anywhere. This is great when it’s time for bed, and not so great when I want to see a movie.
Leah: Mastering the chocolate pound cake.
9. Favorite brand? Why?
Sarah: I’m a big fan of Brandless. I’m inspired by their minimalistic approach to their products and packaging and also love everything that they make.
Leah: The Minnesota State Lottery; the rebrand is perfect. Witty, fun, and that loon.
