Charles Youel, founder and creative director of Artcrank, took the Think & Link stage in May 2017.
About the speaker
Charles is the founder and creative director of ARTCRANK®, a pop-up art show series and online store featuring bike-inspired posters. ARTCRANK held its first show in Minneapolis in 2007, and has staged more than 75 events featuring handmade, limited-edition prints in cities across the U.S. and beyond, including shows in Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Austin, Chicago, New York, Boston, London, and Paris. In 2015, ARTCRANK launched a Bike Poster Shop at artcrank.com, featuring handmade, limited-edition posters designed by independent artists. ARTCRANK is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a “greatest hits” shows of poster reissues on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Fulton Beer production brewery in Northeast Minneapolis.
In a previous professional life, Charles worked as a copywriter, creative director and strategist for several advertising and design agencies, most of which have ceased to exist. This is purely coincidental. Charles still does regular consulting work in creative and brand strategy, but he can quit anytime.
